First picture on your phone of an Alpha event in 2025?
These are pictures of our SoCal premiere and launch of the Alpha Youth Series. This was the first showing of the Alpha Youth Series with an invitation to the church and youth in the room to run a unified Alpha Youth where churches, Organisations, and individuals lean into each other for encouragement, resources, ideas, and best practices to better reach the youth of their city.
In SoCal alone, 82 churches launched Alpha Youth across LA and Orange County, many through the SoCal Unified Launch, engaging over 3,000 young people. Highlights include 10 Friends Southwest churches hosting a joint Alpha Youth Day for 400 students, and 27 students from one church leading nine student-run courses – most of whom met Jesus in Fall 2024.
Already we are seeing young people pick up and run a youth course after going through it once, catching the vision of engaging the mission of helping their friends discover and develop a relationship with Jesus. One of my youth staff members, Will, sent this to our team:
“Hey team! I got this text and picture from a youth pastor down in San Diego… ‘Yo Will! Hope things are good man. Not sure if Daniel has mentioned it to you but we had two student leaders love the Alpha Youth so much that they were inspired to start it at their school. Had their first session today and packed the classroom. Some really cool stuff, so I thought I’d pass it along!’” (Picture below is of that Alpha Youth)
Nationally, we are already seeing at the end of March, 1,678 churches, organisations, and individuals run Alpha Youth, reaching 107,098 youth. The response has been overwhelming.
What is the vision for youth in your country or region?
We believe that what God is doing among Gen Z and Gen Alpha represents the seeds of revitalisation for the church in the USA, as this generation is marked by a deep hunger and carries fresh passion, boldness, and compassion. We want to play our role in helping the church hold space for these seeds to grow, ultimately helping young people discover and develop a relationship with Jesus.
As we serve the Church in its mission, our goal is to help 4,000 churches and organisations reach over 225,000 young people with the good news of Jesus.
Highlight of 2025 so far?
In major cities across the country, we are seeing the church choose to run Alpha Youth in unison with one another sharing resources, space, and mission.
In Portland, 44 churches and organisations ran Alpha in Q1 2025. Most participated in the Portland Metro Unified Launch, which brought more than 1,000 young people into Alpha Youth to explore faith. Many of these groups have mobilised multiple student-led courses in schools. One church has five different student groups with students from two different schools. A high school ministry supports eight student-led groups on campuses, one of which is being led by a seventh-grade student who got excited hearing about Alpha and has been gathering as many as 37 students at her combined middle and high school campus. We were also able to pull together a Westside and Eastside Alpha Youth Day on consecutive weekends. One student sent her youth leader a text afterward, saying, “Today at youth day, when you prayed for me, it meant a lot because nobody has done that for me, and I just want to say thanks.”
What’s Next?
In partnership with national organisations across the U.S., we’ve launched the Every Generation Tour (https://www.everygenerationtour.com) – a series of honest conversations with senior and youth ministry leaders to lay the groundwork for intergenerational renewal. We’ve planned seven city stops in 2025, with additional cities requesting to host this conversation. This season isn’t about launching another product or campaign, it’s about helping the church reimagine youth ministry beyond stage-driven, personality-focused models. Alpha Youth isn’t a silver bullet, but it’s a highly effective tool that helps orient us toward a kingdom culture where every generation is seen, valued, and mobilised.
