The Americas

USA & CANADA

In the USA, the Alpha hub church network is made up of influential, best-practising churches with a passion for evangelism. We now have 130 hub churches representing more than 16 denominations, expanding Alpha throughout the country.

In 2023, Alpha Canada celebrated a significant milestoneβ€”25 years of impact for more than 1.4 million Alpha guests. We also relaunched Alpha for Prisons, which has made the gospel accessible to men, women, and teenagers incarcerated within 38 of Canada’s correctional institutions. Plus, the launch of fully contextualised Alpha products in both Mandarin and Cantonese has resulted in 444 Alphas in 211 churches and organisations.

We released a new three-week, pre-Alpha experience called ever wonder?, addressing questions Americans have before considering God.

Ever Wonder?

β€œ
We’ve found the Ever Wonder? series to be an invaluable introduction to our Alpha course. It provides a gentle yet profound entry point into the Alpha experience, setting the stage for deeper exploration and understanding.

Latin America

Across 29 countries in the region, 10,000 Alpha courses ran with an estimated 265,000 participants, representing a 47% growth. Two areas highlight this growth the most:

01 Regional growth

Four National Alpha Offices in Latin America – Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico – support regional growth. In 2023, our goal was for 50,000 people to participate in an Alpha outside our office countries, and we thank God that we estimate over 77,000 participants attended an Alpha in these countries.

02 Alpha Ados

Β In 2023, over 2,000 churches and organisations ran Alpha Youth courses – 60% were Protestant and 40% Catholic, with 42% running Alpha Youth for the first time.Β

Growth was realised through a refreshed website, the successful Alpha Youth Marathon, online youth leader events and new training materials.

Jesica, a 37-year-old woman from Cordoba, Argentina, embarked on a spiritual exploration after suffering from intense anxiety. Introduced to Alpha by a friend, she experienced a transformative shift during the Alpha Day. However, her life was soon turned upside down when her daughter Josefina was diagnosed with cancer. This propelled her family to rely even more on their faith and prayer. Miraculously, Josefina survived, and the family’s strengthened faith became a beacon of hope for the wider family, friends, neighbours and even the medical professionals involved.

This is Jesica's story
